Giant Skeletons measuring 12ft long have been discovered

Giant Skeletons (Nephilim?) of 12 Feet Long Have Been Discovered in the US

I’ve long been interested by the enigma surrounding accounts of “Giant Skeletons.” To be more specific, human-like bone remains of enormous sizes were said to have appeared all over the place in the mid-to-late 1800s, as reported in stories like these:

After an 1879 excavation of an Indian mound at Brewersville, Indiana, a nine-foot eight inch skeleton was discovered. While digging a mound in Ashland County, Ohio, George W. Hill, M.D. discovered a skeleton that was described as “of remarkable proportions.” Another gigantic skeleton “said to have been of tremendous proportions” was discovered in an unusual clay coffin near Zanesville, Ohio, in 1880, according to the third edition of American Antiquarian, published by Dr. Everhart.

There were nine remains discovered under a home in Medina County, Ohio, in 1881, all of which had been buried as if they had been “dumped into a ditch.” While wearing a cap beneath, Albert Harris, a twenty-year-old local, was able to put the enormous piece over his head and enable it to rest on his shoulders as if it were a helmet, even though he was wearing the cap. In any case, even well-known authors of the day, such as Mark Twain, have been told how they too, as well as others who started out as newspaper reporters for daily, contributed to the telling of “whoppers” on occasion (see a great example of this here). Finally, I decided to look into if any of the claims could be independently validated, and after some searching through publicly accessible archives, I discovered a few that could.

Several enormous human skeletons were discovered in Roane County, Tennessee, by Cyrus Thomas and Thomas Powell of the Bureau of Ethnology in their 1894 report to the Smithsonian Institute’s secretary.

To a depth of about a foot, the dirt under the shells was quite black and looked like it had been combined with vegetable mould. A massive skeleton lay horizontally on the ground at the bottom of this, resting on the original surface of the earth. Measurement of the bones was possible because of their distinctness, despite their softness. Toe bones to the base of the cranium were determined to measure 7 feet 3 inches in length. Because of this, it is likely that this person stood at least 712 feet tall while he or she was alive.”

Another example, this time near Dunlieth, Illinois, where it is believed that Indian burial mounds formerly stood:

Giant Skeletons in North America

An enormous skeleton was found near the original surface, laying on its back 10 or 12 feet from the centre, and measuring between 7 and 8 feet long. It was easy to find, but as soon as it was taken out of the hard dirt, it disintegrated to bits.

Unusual discoveries like this were apparently publicised by the Smithsonian at one point, particularly during the “giant boom” of the late nineteenth century. So why are skeletons and other abnormalities such as these not discovered more commonly in current times… or do they exist? I can’t help but wonder.

An email interaction with my mentor and friend Brad Steiger last year sparked our conversation about a few similar accounts in his book, Worlds Before Our Own, about private museums holding skulls that were supposed to be from prehistoric times. “I learnt about many more after the book was released and included images of them in my lectures,” he informed me. As time went on, people started pleading with me to stop; private museums were inexplicably burning down. Is there anything about these (or any) strange artefacts that is so objectionable that it warrants censoring on this scale?

According to an article I published on the research of the late biologist Ivan T. Sanderson, who was best known for his interest in the stories of Bigfoot and the infamous Abominable Snowmen of the Himalayas, this adds more confusion to the riddle of the missing huge bones:

An engineer stationed on Shemya in the Aleutians during World War II told Sanderson about a strange letter he got some time in the ’60s. To create an airfield, an engineer and his team were forced to bulldoze through a set of hills in the vicinity, which unearthed many strata of human remains. At the site, they discovered a large number of lengthy cranium and leg bones that seemed to belong to humans of enormous size. The skulls were believed to be up to 24 inches long from the base to the crown, which is much longer than the usual human skull length. Interestingly, some ancient societies believed trepanning, or drilling or cutting an opening in the top centre of the skull, would provide many supposed “benefits,” such as enhanced psychic skills. It wasn’t long before Sanderson was able to speak with another member of the unit who was able to validate the odd narrative. It has been widely reported that the Smithsonian Institution collected the bones, but no record of where they were taken has ever been released. That’s what Sanderson appeared to believe, going so far as to wonder, “It it that these individuals cannot face changing all the textbooks?”

Is it possible that MIBs are transporting enormous bones to an unknown warehouse? It’s not even close… Nonetheless, I believe it’s acceptable to assume (at least for the purpose of a nice pun) that someone may have a few “skeletons in their closet.”
