n“Retro” is something influenced by the style (in fashion or music, for example) of the recent past.

It could be an accurate copy – like digging an article of clothing out of a parent’s (or grandparent’s!) closet and copying it in your own size. Same sort of fabric, same general lines, same sort of trim, same everything.

nBut most retro things are are a mix of old and new. They’re a new take on an old style, a fusion of new and old, or a song redone with a different twist. Like some of these modern versions of “hippie” styles:
