Croatia: An Unprecedented Corner of History and Natural Beauty

Europe is always a destination with first-class luxury offers and places that contain a peculiar charm and an exquisite cultural legacy. And among so many destinations, there is a very special one that, although not widely recognised for its tourist attractions, is a hidden treasure. It’s about Croatia.

After the Croatian War, also known as the “Croatian War of Independence,” that lasted four years and put the country on edge from 1991 to 1995, this small country located on the Mediterranean coast of central Europe, whose capital and main financial centre is Zagreb, was completely rebuilt and is today one of the most important destinations in the Mediterranean. To the southwest, Croatia borders the Adriatic Sea, and it is here where we will make a slightly more tempting and dense description to name the paradisiacal benefits of this country that belonged to the now-defunct Yugoslavia.

Despite the fact that we have beaches in Miami, which have nothing to envy about any beach in the world, what is experienced on Croatian beaches is of a different caliber. The beaches of this Balkan country offer a mixture of romantic mediaeval architecture and a tropical paradise, with beautiful turquoise waters, white sand, and a very vibrant cultural life. The famous marine biologist Jaques Cousteau claimed that the Adriatic was one of the cleanest seas in the world, so that’s something you have to check. Croatia has more than 5,000 kilometres of coastline full of beaches for your total enjoyment and relaxation, among which the nudist beaches located on the Istrian or Kavner peninsula and the beaches that bathe the Dalmatian coast stand out.

Among the most important beaches in Istria, we can name the Crveni Otok beach, very close to Rovinj, known as the Red Island beach due to its lush vegetation that turns red during autumn, and the Koversada beaches, Kanegra beach, and Funtana beach, perfect places for lovers of nudism with crystalline and turquoise waters that closely resemble Caribbean beaches with white sand and gravel.
On the other hand, the beaches in Dalmatia are another story, with splendid landscapes ready for another beach day. In this sector, the beaches of Makarska stand out, surrounded by a very important tourist complex and therefore having an abundant tourist influx, and Promajna beach, which is much quieter and more private, surrounded by a lot of vegetation, which gives it a wild character. and paradise.

One of the cities that has emerged as the most important for Croatian tourism and that is one of the flagships of the country is the coastal city of Dubrovnik. Known as “the pearl of the Adriatic” for its artistic and historical wealth or “the Dalmatian  this beautiful mediaeval city with more than 14 centuries of history is located in the Dalmatia region of modern Croatia and is surrounded by walls and fortifications. It extends along the entire coast, occupying the slopes of the mountains, and falls abruptly on the Adriatic. Bernard Shaw, the Irish Nobel Prize winner for Literature, said it best: “All those seeking earthly paradise, come and visit Dubrovnik.”Its history, climate, and gastronomy have made it one of the most visited cities in the world. This Balkan jewel preserves a museum city that is under the protection of Unesco. The historic centre was declared a World Heritage Site in 1979.
