Battle of Los Angeles, What Happened in February 1942

Generally speaking, it is considered that the military is complicit in UFO case cover-ups. However, reports of UFO sightings involving military personnel that have tangible proof or photographic documentation are extremely rare. One such instance is the well-known UFO encounter in Los Angeles on February 25, 1942, early in the morning, when a massive UFO was seen by hundreds of witnesses hovering over the city.

A massive unexplained object that is 800 feet tall under military spotlights

Just 79 days prior, Japanese jets struck Pearl Harbor so severely that the whole nation was terrified of an unprovoked strike. A Japanese submarine bombed the Ellwood oil fields in Goleta, Santa Barbara, California, on February 23, 1942. The Japanese submarine had been moving aggressively, and this put the military on high alert since they expected an invasion. They were instructed to keep an eye out for anything unexpected. The military was quickly scouring the sky thanks to a well-designed warning system.

Air raid sirens began wailing throughout all of Los Angeles County early on February 25, 1942, when an unusual object was spotted close to Culver City and Santa Monica. Its origin was unclear, it was enormous (approximately 800 feet), and it could have had stealth defences attached. It appeared out of the darkness, descending at a sharp angle over the Pacific Ocean, swooping southward and eastward toward Los Angeles. It was moving at lightning-fast speed, just touching the surface of the sea. Around 120 miles west of Los Angeles, the object most likely became aware of the military’s electronic surveillance and retracted its entry by cutting its speed to a crawl at a distance of 50 miles. At Point Dume, it then made a turn inland.

Where the unidentified item was located where anti-aircraft weapons were fired

The antiaircraft batteries were instructed to be on green alert, or “ready to fire,” as the unidentified object vanished behind the mountains along the west coast in the same region as the attacked oil refinery. A total blackout, affecting all of southern California, from Los Angeles to the Mexican border, was ordered at 2:21 am when the whole warning system went into action at 2:15 am.

Huge spotlights were aimed towards the hovering ship by the 37th Coast Artillery Brigade as soon as they were activated. At 3:16 am, the anti-aircraft troops went berserk and began heavy shooting at the supposed craft travelling from Santa Monica to Culver City with.50 calibre machine guns and 12.8 pound anti-aircraft rounds into the air. They fired 1400 shots straight at the unusual object in an hour, till 4:14 a.m., since they were determined to bring it down. Nevertheless, after taking many blows, the enormous vessel managed to leave absolutely unscathed.

It passed silently above the MGM Studios in Culver City, where a phenomenal shot of the object was taken. This photo ultimately became a standard in the field of ufology. The object soon headed in the direction of Long Beach before eventually vanishing from view and disappearing south of the Signal Hills oil field. At 7:21 am, the blackout was finally lifted.

Thousands of residents observed the airstrike and intense shelling, which resulted in eight recorded casualties. Shrapnel (shell pieces) falling from the sky accidently killed five persons, while three more suffered heart attacks and passed out. In addition, several cars and structures suffered damage. The item was characterised by the majority of eyewitnesses as a bizarre magic lantern hanging in the sky. According to other air raid wardens who testified, the object was enormous, pale orange in colour, and barely moved. It had a stunning hue and was wonderful and unusual.

Ronald Reagan was clearly influenced by this event, as seen by his warning to the populace about a “potential extraterrestrial invasion from the outer world.”
