nForn38 years, San Francisco has a colorful April-Fools-y sort ofncelebration: an annual parade called the Saint Stupid’s Day Parade. n
n
n
n
nIt’snan event held by the satire religion called the “First Church of the Last Laugh.”nIt’s supposed to celebrate stupidity. Parade participants are urgednto wear silly outfits, bring noise makers, and make funny or satiricnsigns. Comment on “the business of religion” and “the religionnof business” are apparently especially encouraged.

nParticipantsnare also asked to bring their lone socks (whose partner has gonenmissing), for the ritual held at the Pacific Stock Exchange. Thenritual is, of course, a SOCK exchange!

nPeoplenare asked to bring their pennies, because the penny is a prettynuseless sort of coin that costs more to make than it is worth, andnthat doesn’t work in any machine other than the coin-sorter machinesnwith which we get rid of our pennies! During the St. Stupid’s DaynParade, people finally have a use for their pennies: throwing them atnthe Banker’s Heart Sculpture.
n
n
n
nPeoplenare also asked to bring their losing lottery tickets – because mathnshows that playing the lottery is a waste of money. The final ritualnof the parade is a stop at the Federal Reserve HQ, where all thosenlotto tickets become confetti.

nIt’snbilled as the World’s Oldest Religion, the World’s Largest Church.
n
nItnadvertises that it is the only snack-based religion, and that it hasn150% less dogma.
n
n
n
nOf course, it’s all for laughs.n
