Nokia’s touchscreen ‘iPhone rival
Now that everyone is familiar with the Apple iPhone, let’s take a closer look at its competitor, the Nokia N96. Since the iPhone’s release, there have been many differences and negative reviews from users, but I must say it is the most stylish and vibrant cell phone available today.However, in terms of features and comparison to its rival N96, I believe N96 has a larger fan base.
Let’s compare them:
Apple iPhone positive points vs. N96:
The Mac OS X operating system is better than Symbian.
- Browser (safari).
- Email (HTML-Rich, Push IMAP Yahoo, IMAP/POP3)
- music player (iTunes).
- Touchscreen with multitouch sensors
- The processor speed of 620 MHz is faster than that of the N96 (264 MHz).
- large screen size.
- The battery has an 8-hour talk time and a 24-hour playback time.
- There is a spell checker present, which N96 does not have.
- Again, the N96 lacks a proximity sensor (which turns the screen off when held up to your ear).
- Threaded SMS, which the N96 does not have.

- Dual-LED Flash
- Mobile TV, i.e. DVB-H
- Memory expansion slot, Micro SD
- replaceable battery, which the iPhone lacks

- The user can instal third-party software, whereas the iPhone cannot.

- Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) is supported.
- It comes unlocked and is not carrier-locked.

- Both are available in 8/16 GB capacities.
- Both have the YouTube application in common.
- Both have an ambient light sensor.
If reviews, user-friendliness, and smooth operation are to be considered, votes are in the lead for the N96, but this does not mean the iPhone sucks!Apple’s iPhone has a diverse fan base.
Again, I’d give the Apple iPhone 4.3 or 5 stars and the Nokia N96 4.6 or 5 stars.
