The 17th Lok Sabha was the most productive of 67 years, introduced 33 bills, passed all, worked 280 hours

  • In the current Lok Sabha, 135% work was done, 37 seats were held in 51 days session.

              The first session of this year’s 17th Lok Sabha was the most productive in 67 years. Speaker Om Birla said before the session ended on Tuesday that this was the most productive session since 1952. In the 51-day session, 37 meetings took place and a total of 280 hours of work was done. There are 71 hours in which work is done even after six pm. One day the house work was done till 12 pm. Meanwhile, the house was not suspended for a minute following protests. A total of 36 bills were introduced in the Lok Sabha, all of which were passed. Three unchanged bills came from the Rajya Sabha.Thus, 135% work was done in the Lok Sabha. In the first session, 265 new members had the opportunity to speak. Usually, all first-time MPs get the chance to speak for the first time in the House after one and a half years.

  • In the vacuum, members raised 1086 issues. Of the 265 members elected for the first time, 229 raised issues in their respective fields. Of the 46 women MPs elected for the first time, 42 had the opportunity to raise the issue.
  • On July 18, the zero period lasted four hours, 48 ​​minutes. In the meantime 161 members gave their talk. Earlier in the session, on June 26, 84 members had set a record in the vacancy, which was broken 22 days later.
  • Answering 183 starred questions in question period. On average, 7.6 questions were answered, whereas on the previous Lok Sabha average 3.35 questions were answered.
  • Under Rule 377, 488 public matters were raised, which is a record of matters raised in a single session.
  • 118 non-government pledges were introduced in the house, lunch break was also not taken in five meetings to continuously operate the house.
