I don’t have much of a personal life-Swara Bhasker

Swara Bhasker reveals she has her plate full. Beyond acting, she is busy penning scripts for two films and is also turning producer

After completing 10 years in the film business, Swara Bhasker is not only grateful for all the opportunities that came her way but also, aims to raise the acting bar. “I found love in equal measures from the audience and critics, and that’s been the most fulfilling part for me,” says Swara. Excerpts from an interview.
What are the perks of your job?
The most fulfilling part about being an actor is the number of lives we get to live via the parts we play. How we get to relive precious emotions of life, and how, sometimes, we get to experience things that we normally wouldn’t get the chance to. That and,of course, other people work hard to make you look good and glamorous all the time. (laughs)
Which films have helped shape your career?
Be it Payal from Tanu Weds Manu (2011), Bindiya from Raanjhanaa (2013) or Chanda from Nil Battey Sannata (2016), each of the characters were accepted wholeheartedly and what more can an artist ask for. It really has been a win-win situation till now.
Work wise, how would you like to push the envelope further?
I’m playing a man in a film next year. Every time, I’m playing a part that is alien to me or I’m part of a story set in a world I don’t know, I’m pushing the envelope further for myself. Also, I’m turning a film producer this year, besides writing a script and working on a second one, too. I’m diversifying beyond acting. So, there’s acting in two films, the scripts of which I’ve written like I said, and I’m producing one of them.
Have you been able to maintain your personal life?
Currently, I don’t have much of a personal life and I’m glad for all the work I can do. But I’m a very family-oriented person and I make sure that I spend enough time back home with my parents and old friends, who are like family. Ultimately, family is what makes it all worthwhile.
