Infertility in Men: Causes, Prevention, Symptoms, Cure

Until now, if a married couple could not have children, it was not infrequently blamed on the istrilah party. He is regarded as sterile and incapable of bearing children. In fact, the problem of infertility is not the monopoly of women.

The man could experience it. As explained by Prof. Dr. H. Oentoeng Soeradi, a biologist as well as a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (Faculty of Medicine), there are many factors that cause disruption of the process of sperm formation that causes infertility in men. What are they?

One of them is in the habit of wearing very tight pants. According to Oentoeng, wearing underwear that is too tight causes the temperature around the testes to increase. and an increase in temperature that would bind the sperm-forming hormone. Certain hormones, such as testosterone, namely FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone), play a major role in the formation of sperm. “When these hormone needs are unmet, sperm can not be formed in the amount and condition of health.”

Certain diseases also warrant being wary of. For example, infection of the salivary glands (mumps) This disease causes an increase in body temperature. And high body temperatures can interfere with the process of sperm formation in the testes. Not only that, but for men who like to soak in hot water, you should also start thinking about stopping this habit. Why so? Therefore, if the water temperature is too high and exceeds the body temperature, it can weaken the ability of the testes to produce sperm.

So it is with the man who spends his days working near a stove or furnace. In Oentoeng’s words, workers are prone to problems such as infertility. “Basically, the testes are not more resistant to heat than the body temperature. “When exposed to heat that exceeds body temperature, he will not be able to function to produce good sperm,” said the Coordinator of the Basic Medical Science Department at the Faculty of Medicine’s Nature.

Furthermore, he explains, the process of testicular protection from excessive heat has actually occurred naturally since the fetus was in the mother’s womb.

While still in the embryo, the testes are in the abdominal cavity.

Before birth, i.e., during fetal development, the testicles will descend into the scrotum (testicle sac), which has a temperature below body temperature. Just so you know, the temperature in the scrotum is approximately 33–34 degrees Celsius. Low temperatures are important for fetal testis to protect them from overheating.

The testis can function optimally at temperatures below body temperature. Arrangements made by the scrotal temperature via sweat glands and smooth muscles that can thicken and thin in response to ambient temperature

Conversely, if the fetus testes do not descend into the scrotum, the testicles will experience excessive heat when the baby is born. As a result, at times it was not able to produce sperm that functioned properly.

Causes

Infertility is a man’s condition that is not related to his sexual ability. It should also be noted that male fertility also decreases with increasing age. “To be a grandfather, the sperm can still be generated, but there is the potential to get bigger girls with the disorder,” said Wahyuning Ramelan, an andrology expert.

Regarding the cause of infertility in men, Wahyuning divided it into two parts. The first is genetic. He claims that 47 men with chromosome XXY will not be able to produce sperm. While the number of men with type XX chromosome 46 is increasing, their spermatogenesis (sperm creation process) will be disturbed.

In addition to genetic factors, there are also external factors that can be obtained from sexually transmitted diseases.  If not handled as it should, this disease could potentially clog or damage the sperm in his spermatogenesis. ” Radiation can also reduce fertility and even lead to infertility.”
