The Curse of La Llorona (2019) Film Summary
A social worker dealing with the disappearance of two children fears for her own family after beginning the investigation.
The Llorona. The Woman in Tears. A terrifying ghost who was imprisoned between Heaven and Hell and sealed her own horrible fate. In real life, she threw herself into the roiling river after her children and drowned them in a jealous passion while sobbing in agony. Her tears are now unending, and anybody who hears her dying cries in the night will perish.
In an effort to find children to replace her own, La Llorona prowls the shadows and preys on the young. La Llorona stalks the night—and the kids—in 1970s Los Angeles. A social worker and her own young children are soon sucked into a terrifying otherworldly dimension after ignoring the ominous warning of a disturbed mother who is accused of endangering children.
Perhaps a disillusioned priest and the mysticism he practises to ward off evil, on the periphery where fear and faith mix, is their last chance to survive La Llorona’s lethal vengeance. Beware of her terrifying cries. She would do whatever to entice you into the darkness.
